The Method

A defined sequence in three phases

Erectile function, ejaculatory control and desire are shaped by the body, the mind and the relationship. In most men, more than one is involved. The Method addresses all three, in a fixed order.

Phase I

Understanding

The Method begins with education. The client learns how an erection is produced, the four stages through which it can be interrupted, and why erectile dysfunction can be an early indicator of cardiovascular health.

This is followed by a one-week home assessment of morning erections, together with a short questionnaire. Because nocturnal erections occur without conscious involvement, the assessment indicates whether the primary factor is physical, psychological, or both. The plan that follows is built on this result.

Where the concern began recently and a physical factor is indicated, the client is advised to consult a physician to assess cardiovascular risk factors.

Phase II

Practice

Practice proceeds through defined topics, one task at a time. A topic addressing the body and a topic addressing the mind are open in parallel.

  • Pelvic floor. Identification and daily training of the pelvic floor muscles.
  • The mind. Attention training, work with automatic thoughts, mindfulness and graded exposure.
  • The body. Aerobic exercise, weight, sleep, smoking and alcohol.
  • Touch and communication. Structured work within the relationship.
  • Desire. Factors that shape sexual desire, and how to address them.

Dedicated tracks address early ejaculation, stress and trauma, and age-related and medical conditions.

Phase III

Maintenance

The client builds an individual routine from the components that proved effective, completes a closing measurement against the baseline, and receives a plan for managing setbacks.

Principles

How the Method is delivered

  • 01Assessment before practiceNo client begins practice before the cause of his concern has been assessed.
  • 02Body, mind and relationshipEach is addressed, because in most men more than one is involved.
  • 03One task at a timeEach stage opens only when the previous one has been completed.
  • 04Measured progressValidated measures are taken at the start, during the program and at its close.
  • 05DiscretionClient information is private, and communications are designed to be discreet.
  • 06Referral when indicatedThe Method complements medical care and does not replace it.
